The past two weeks have been crazy and VERY productive. Although it really challenged my energy level, I feel pretty accomplished. :D
So, here goes!
Last Friday, Mr. Zul decided to take our class on a trip to the One in a Million live recording. I flew home after class at 5pm, took a quick shower and came back to college. We were supposed to gather by 6pm.
The bus left right before it started pouring. Thank God we got in right on time! Everyone was busy taking pictures and making LOTS of noise. Our attempt to sing together failed. LOL
Robin and Nash doing a head count. Nah... they weren't singing (thank God! :P).
We arrived more than two hours before the show started. So, we were lucky to have a tour around the studio and control rooms.
Mr. Producer himself! We met him before at So You Think You Can Dance two years back.
Audio switches
Apparently these are obsolete now. They had plenty of equipment in the control rooms. I guess that's what you need to produce a live show.
After the briefing about pre-production, we had some time to ourselves. Too bad we didn't bump into the hosts before the show. :(
The stage is actually very small. Never believe what you see!
They reserved three rows for us, and we still didn't have enough seats! Poor boys had to be separated from the group.
Before the show starts, the floor manager for the day will usually go up stage to interact with the audience while we wait. The guy actually introduced us as special guests! LOL We didn't expect that. We were supposed to help to lift the atmosphere of the place. Seriously, other than a short cheer for their favourite contestants, the crowd was kinda dull. :S
We were captured on screen by the two cameras in the center. We were so jakun about it. XD

After sitting down for a while, they split us up. Some of us were asked to move to the front. And we actually sat right beside the stage! The hosts, Marion and Awal, were seated right behind us with their make-up artists. ^_^
Our view...
Marion and Awal! We were more interested to see Marion, even us girls! Some of the boys really envied us for being able to see her up-close and right behind us when she took breaks. :P
Judges. I kept referring to Paul Moss as Simon. Irene did the same thing! LOL Nabs was like, =__="
Most of the time we could only see their side profiles from where we were sitting. I had to really prepare when they walked across the stage like this.
First contestant, Tomok. I had NO idea who the contestants were before I went. Only managed to learn their names quickly right before the show. He sang a rock version of Rihanna's Umbrella. Very good! I loved it. Probably my favourite performance of the night because he sounded different.
Before this, Rizu was voted out. He sang She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5 before he left the stage. He sang it so well!!! He deserved another chance. :( Amylea, another contestant who was previously from Akademi Fantasia cried so much when he left. They must have been very close.
Amylea for you
Esther, another strong contestant from Sabah. She has powerful vocals. One of the judges and audience favourites. I enjoyed the performance. A really jazzy feel.
Nine, nothing special. His guitar string broke half-way through his performance. He just stopped playing. Judges were pretty hard on him as well.
Aweera with the funky hair. Too much rock, like SCREAMING rock, I didn't really like it.
Marion!
The final contestant, Simon. He was actually good. Nice, soothing voice. But he's been in the bottom three every single week for some reason. I guess he should sound more original in his performances, that would probably help make him stand out from the rest.
That was a wrap for the night. The show was just an hour. But we learned so much sitting in the crowd, watching the crew do the countdowns, commercial breaks, crowd-control, and etc. So much better than sitting backstage and inhaling smoke like we did during So You Think You Can Dance the last time.
But speaking of smoke, the moment we left the studio, the dumb cigarette addicts couldn't wait. They could have taken a few more steps OUT into the place with ventilation. They just HAD to smoke in the air-conditioned room, all closed up.
Wanna see how bad it was?

Group picture time. But you can barely see who is who. :S
And another disappointment we had was that we didn't get a picture with Marion and Awal. :( The assistants were rushing them off after the show. And we saw them lurking around behind after the show but we weren't allowed to go in. Oh well, better luck next time! >.<
That's about it for my FIRST update. After the show, I reached home after midnight and had to continue to do my Powerpoint slides for presentation on Monday. :S And guess what, I went hiking the next day! More updates on that after this...
