Mass dance!

This is such a cool ad!!! I loooove mass dances. :D

I'm finally done with my advertising essay! Weeeee~!!! I'll be free for the next two weeks. XD

Actually, not really. I have to go back to college to do a shooting for our Digital Media assignment, which is what I'm worried most! I hope we can finish everything on time, cause I know it'll take a while.

'Til then, let's have fun at our BBQ party tomorrow!!!

When Taylor Swift meets Coldplay.

This is a piano and cello arrangement done by Jon Schmidt. He was inspired by his seven-year-old daughter who loves 'Love Story' by Taylor Swift. I can't stop listening to it! :D

Too good to be true.

CSJH The Grace, one of the most underrated Asian female groups. Why doesn't SM Entertainment promote them as much as their other artists?

I hope they'll do a comeback in Korea soon! >.<

I spent some time at Leo's Cafe again yesterday with Ee Leen, Pei Yi and Cheryl. We had a good time talking, forcing ourselves to get back to our work at the same time. LOL Sitting for a few hours at a place where you keep smelling food is not a good place to study, at least for me. :P

I'm still working on my advertising essay about children being a vulnerable group in advertising. Plan to submit it by tonight if everything works out. And then, I'm free for the next two weeks!!! Can't wait for our BBQ at Ms. Natasha's house this Friday.

We were actually invited by 8TV again to attend the One in a Million grand finale this Friday, and they'll be providing us with free transport. Some chose to go along, and some of us chose to stick with the initial plan, which was to attend the after-party we've been planning for the past six months. It'll be cool to watch how they produce a live show, especially something as big as a grand finale. But like Nabs said, I believe we'll have more opportunities like this in the future with Taylor's and our lecturers. :)

So, let's have a great bonding time at Ms. Natasha's! Looking at the list of food we planned out during our meeting last week, I'm already drooling now!

And if all goes well, hopefully I'll be able to see Lee Hom the next day!!! Please... please... please...

Now, back to 'assignment-ing'. UGH.

Saturday Night.

Stumbled upon this video. Navi, doing a cover of Son Dam Bi's 'Saturday Night'.

This R&B version is soooo much better than the original dance version. :D

Scream and laugh!

Mr. Shahid showed us a bunch of commercials during advertising class today. It really woke me up because the dimmed lights and dark Power Point slides made me doze off a couple of times. :S

This is one of the reasons we love advertising lectures. :D

This commercial is pretty interesting. I don't really understand how THAT is relevant to the product, but this is what makes it interesting, rigth? And it's really funny hearing the whole class scream, including me. XD

If you have a heart problem, don't watch.

Do leave your comments on my tagboard after watching. :) I'd love to read your feedback. LOL

I love the car... T.T Can I kidnap it too?

P/S I need inspiration for my advertising essay, that's why I've been watching quite a number of ads since yesterday. :)

Think family.

This is a commercial launched by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports of Singapore. Looking at funerals through a different light... Some people thought it was rude because people there were laughing, but it showed how the woman handled the death of her husband.

*sniff sniff*

I hope I can do commercials like that someday. Reminds me of the Petronas festive ads! :)

Dancing with God

I got this from an email that Ji Huey forwarded to me.

When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G": I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance."
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.
If God has done anything for you in your life,
please share this message with someone else.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards;
so let's continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance !

Now playing - Miss Saigon original soundtrack
(I love Lea Salonga!)

Extreme without limitations.

I'm just gonna spare a few minutes to write about Mass Colympics today.

Ammie came along with us as a substitute for Qiki because she wasn't feeling well. Met Nab's friend, Khe Chun, from Subang Utama. She was from Lick Hung too (Ee Leen, your classmate!).

Took us a while to find Xtion Paintball Park, but we managed to get there on time. We assumed that the VIPs would be there late, because that is usually what happens. If you still can't figure out which VIP I'm talking about, continue reading.

After registering at the counter, we moved on the check out the place. We didn't know where to go because the park was really big. We stumble upon a paintball tournament going on, and we thought, "Has it started already?". And then we realized that those were the pros. XD No wonder the shots sounded a lot scarier.

We waited in line according to categories. And what do you know, we heard that there were 64 teams in paintball! O.O Wow... that's a lot of people to beat. =S We got a little worried. So, we set a little goal for ourselves: Get past the first round. That would be enough knowing that there's only one guy in our team, Zak.

Captains from all teams were called to a briefing at the field. So Nab left us for a while.

It was only 9.30am and the sun was already burning into our skin. We needed something to distract ourselves. Suddenly, we saw this girl running to her friend screaming, "I saw Allan Wu!!!". We got so excited the moment we heard that. We looked around, and there he was, standing in front talking to the Operation Manager of today's event and the lecturers.

He looked so tall standing among them. :P He looked very free at the time. So, we were contemplating whether or not to ask to take a picture with him because we were worried that we might miss our chance later. We couldn't decide. It was too late after that because the opening ceremony was about to start.

After a few speeches and the launch of the event, Mass Colympics 2009 finally kicked off.

I took this picture with my phone. Sorry for the bad quality. Allan Wu shot the banner above to launch the event.

He is actually the brand ambassador for Taylor's School of Communication. That's why he's been around a few Taylor's event this year. He was also here to flag off the Amazing Race teams today.

Rashid Salleh was also present as a representative from ESPN. They actually got ESPN to cover the event! Can't wait to see if this is gonna be on TV. :P

After the launch, Allan had to start of the race. We overheard the MC asking people to stay back at the stage if they want a picture with him. We got really excited because it was finally our chance! He opened a mini autograph session and everyone quickly queued up.

Yay! He was sweating like crazy and everyone was crowding around him. But thank you Allan! And thank you Chien Hing for taking this picture for me! :D

Later, we moved on to the field to wait for our final briefing. There were so many teams playing. We were prepared to wait quite a while before our turn. We sat on the seats in front of the field to watch to other teams play. The seats were made of STEEL, mind you. Can you imagine how cooked we were after everything? LOL

Our field. Some of the cylinders and obstacles deflated halfway through the game. So we didn't bother hiding behind at all, we charged straight to the front few! XD

We were cheering on some teams and going "What?" to a few others. This tournament was a little different from the time we played in the last Mass Colympics two years ago. We played 'Capture the Flag'. The goal is too get two flags back to our base after we shoot down a bottle right in front of us. We had unlimited life, but every time we get shot, we would have to go to the base behind to wipe off the paint and get back into the game. That wasted time and points will also be deducted.

Finally, they called out 'Jambo Juice'. Don't ask. We came up with it within seconds when we registered last week.

Said a short prayer and it was battle time. I was so excited, my adrenaline was already pumping because this reminded me of the game I played last time. The next thing I knew, Khe Chun and I got both flags and reached the base at the same time. WE WON!!! We reached our goalS for the day!!! Hahaha. I didn't get shot in this round.

We rested for a while and bumped into some of our classmate doing rock-climbing. The girls did well!!! And the rock actually got really hot because of the sun, so many people didn't make it because their hands and feet were burning.

Then, Round 2 came. We lost. It was really unfair because Ammie and Zak clearly hit the opponent. But the ignorant marshals didn't bother calling them out and they went on shooting. What?! =_=

Oh well. There's bound to be something like this happening. At least we know that we could have tied with the other team and move on. But hey, we're in the top 32, and we actually got through the first round which we didn't expect to initially. And we have a cool name. So, yay!

But somehow, I feel that I had more fun playing in the last Mass Colympics at the Xtreme park near the Subang lake. Maybe because we actually got to wear a jumper suit then and the rounds lasted longer, and we actually got to the semi-finals! XD This time, I think we only played for less than five minutes altogether in two rounds. =_=

I didn't really shoot anybody this time because I was focusing on the flags. I only realised that after we left the field. >.< If only I shot at least one person. But I got three shots when I was running back to the base.

Here is one of the souvenirs I got:

I didn't know it got this bad! O.O

Now, at least I have SOMETHING to proof that I actually played. I miss playing with my classmates! We have to go as a group next time and play the whole day!

So, did I go to the extreme? Not really, I slacked a bit in the second round because I got distracted. Totally forgot to watch out for the bottle. But at least we had fun planning and playing together. :D

Now... back to assignments! O.O

Falling Slowly

This is such a beautiful song. Kris Allen performed this last night on American Idol. I fell in love with it immediately. It's from the movie, 'Once'. Originally a duet sung by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

Take that sinking boat and point it home, we still got time...

What?

Wow. I just heard that David Archuleta was actually supposed to go to SMK USJ 12. But... the principal REJECTED him. o___O

What?!

Sigh. Semangat Twelveans? I don't think so.

Lucky Sri KDU students. Come to Taylor's College the next time, okay? :P

First up: One in a Million!

Yes! It's the moment that all of you have been waiting for... UPDATES! (I'm just saying that for the sake of it. Ha!)

The past two weeks have been crazy and VERY productive. Although it really challenged my energy level, I feel pretty accomplished. :D

So, here goes!

Last Friday, Mr. Zul decided to take our class on a trip to the One in a Million live recording. I flew home after class at 5pm, took a quick shower and came back to college. We were supposed to gather by 6pm.

The bus left right before it started pouring. Thank God we got in right on time! Everyone was busy taking pictures and making LOTS of noise. Our attempt to sing together failed. LOL

Robin and Nash doing a head count. Nah... they weren't singing (thank God! :P).

We arrived more than two hours before the show started. So, we were lucky to have a tour around the studio and control rooms.

Mr. Producer himself! We met him before at So You Think You Can Dance two years back.

Audio switches

Apparently these are obsolete now. They had plenty of equipment in the control rooms. I guess that's what you need to produce a live show.

After the briefing about pre-production, we had some time to ourselves. Too bad we didn't bump into the hosts before the show. :(

The stage is actually very small. Never believe what you see!

They reserved three rows for us, and we still didn't have enough seats! Poor boys had to be separated from the group.

Before the show starts, the floor manager for the day will usually go up stage to interact with the audience while we wait. The guy actually introduced us as special guests! LOL We didn't expect that. We were supposed to help to lift the atmosphere of the place. Seriously, other than a short cheer for their favourite contestants, the crowd was kinda dull. :S

We were captured on screen by the two cameras in the center. We were so jakun about it. XD

After sitting down for a while, they split us up. Some of us were asked to move to the front. And we actually sat right beside the stage! The hosts, Marion and Awal, were seated right behind us with their make-up artists. ^_^

Our view...

Marion and Awal! We were more interested to see Marion, even us girls! Some of the boys really envied us for being able to see her up-close and right behind us when she took breaks. :P

Judges. I kept referring to Paul Moss as Simon. Irene did the same thing! LOL Nabs was like, =__="

Most of the time we could only see their side profiles from where we were sitting. I had to really prepare when they walked across the stage like this.

First contestant, Tomok. I had NO idea who the contestants were before I went. Only managed to learn their names quickly right before the show. He sang a rock version of Rihanna's Umbrella. Very good! I loved it. Probably my favourite performance of the night because he sounded different.

Before this, Rizu was voted out. He sang She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5 before he left the stage. He sang it so well!!! He deserved another chance. :( Amylea, another contestant who was previously from Akademi Fantasia cried so much when he left. They must have been very close.

Amylea for you

Esther, another strong contestant from Sabah. She has powerful vocals. One of the judges and audience favourites. I enjoyed the performance. A really jazzy feel.

Nine, nothing special. His guitar string broke half-way through his performance. He just stopped playing. Judges were pretty hard on him as well.

Aweera with the funky hair. Too much rock, like SCREAMING rock, I didn't really like it.

Marion!

The final contestant, Simon. He was actually good. Nice, soothing voice. But he's been in the bottom three every single week for some reason. I guess he should sound more original in his performances, that would probably help make him stand out from the rest.

That was a wrap for the night. The show was just an hour. But we learned so much sitting in the crowd, watching the crew do the countdowns, commercial breaks, crowd-control, and etc. So much better than sitting backstage and inhaling smoke like we did during So You Think You Can Dance the last time.

But speaking of smoke, the moment we left the studio, the dumb cigarette addicts couldn't wait. They could have taken a few more steps OUT into the place with ventilation. They just HAD to smoke in the air-conditioned room, all closed up.

Wanna see how bad it was?

Group picture time. But you can barely see who is who. :S

And another disappointment we had was that we didn't get a picture with Marion and Awal. :( The assistants were rushing them off after the show. And we saw them lurking around behind after the show but we weren't allowed to go in. Oh well, better luck next time! >.<

That's about it for my FIRST update. After the show, I reached home after midnight and had to continue to do my Powerpoint slides for presentation on Monday. :S And guess what, I went hiking the next day! More updates on that after this...

I am SO ready...

... for paintball and Allan Wu!!! :D

Lollipop is stuck in my head.

The guys do it better. :P

Anyway, I'll be posting up pictures about our 'One in a Million' trip and Broga hill hike SOON! Really busy with assignments and the coming Bible quiz. >.<

Can I scream at him?

I spent the whole day doing the assignment up until 4AM, and you tell TODAY, when the assignment is supposedly due, that it has been extended until next week?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

ARGH!!!

I could have focused on my other assignments!!!

Slept for three hours last night, gonna sleep for only another four hours tonight. =.=

Stupidest assignment EVER.

What a nightmare...
